By the time you’re reading this, I am coerced to work my butt off ensuring my company manufactures products adhering to food safety and quality standards. My workload doubles this holiday in proportion to the the demands for a festive Yuletide celebration. Christmas and New Year in the Philippines is a huge deal tracing its roots from faith and tradition. It’s cray!
Anyway, I won’t be around the blogosphere for a fortnight or more. Just popping here and there maybe until I’m free from the holiday shackles. There will be scheduled posts though like Top 10 Tuesday (depending on duty calls) and my piece for The Story Mash Up (January 3). The list of books I’ve read waiting to be reviewed piles up which I will gradually diminish (hopefully) by 2016.
So this is me greeting you guys an early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! (I will be active in Twitter though to greet!)
There’s a long queue for my Christmas-themed book tags but I don’t think I have the luxury of time to do them. They will have to wait for next year *shoves them on the bottom pit* New Year, New Tag! (I know New Year’s not until Christmas is over but I’m posting this in advance just because.)
To be honest, I despise the New Year’s Day because it means three things: 1.) the worsts of summer is just a stone’s throw away, 2.) Christmas perks and discounts and feels are over, 3.) I’m close to the dreaded midlife crisis.
But hey! Let’s not start 2016 by being snappish, yeah? I am introducing the 2016 Resolutions Book Tag. Let’s face 2016 with a fresh start! 4 topics only. Not a fan of multiple questions, sorry! No rules. Give whatever. No right or wrong. You’re your own boss!
Bookish Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Diversify my reading materials. Read not just YA. Explore other genre, authors, etc. (GRRM, J.R.R Tolkien, I will conquer you!)
- Buy a new book cabinet. (I don’t keep my books in a shelf but rather in a cabinet to keep it sunlight-proof)
- Adhere to the book budget. (Gotta practice not taking a detour at the bookstore)
- Not base my preferences on the hype. (I have 2015 to thank for that)
Book Blogging Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Start doing book discussion posts (My thoughts are just almost always cluttered. It takes me more than a day to write a post.)
- Leave all the blogging indifference in 2015
- Be more scrupulous in book reviews (Don’t just say it’s awesome. There’s got to be more than the feelings)
Career/ Academic Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Work my path to graduate school (It’s been 2 years since. My minds getting rusty from work)
- Bid my 2 year-old bread and butter goodbye (I’m fed up with the monsters)
- Consider my career growth more than the paycheck (I’m still not on the family way so I guess this should weigh more)
Personal Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- BE PUNCTUAL (This never gets old. It’s on my resolution list since high school)
- Invest more on travelling
- Pick more nutritious foods. Junk the junk foods (I’m a nutritionist so I have to be a walking example)
Spreading the 2016 positive atmosphere, I’m tagging:

Whoah…bid my 2 year old bread and butter goodbye? Does that mean you are leaving your job? 😮 If it does, then I’m happy for you! and yes to graduate school! That would always be my regret, I wish I studied more when I was younger and had more time in my hands *sighs*
Thanks for the tag! I will see you after the holidays! Don’t tire yourself out though. Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!

Yes! I realized there’s no point in me pursuing a work whose only means of loving me is through a paycheck.
That can be regretful indeed. But look at you now, Joan. Your happiness with your son radiates all the way to the Philippines 🙂
Thanks for being a great friend this year. Happy Holidays! 😀

YEY to all your resolutions. Graduate school and more travelling and start thinking about career path. Good luck! 🙂

Thank you, Windie! I had a quick escape from work this New Year’s Day but will be back to work this weekend *sigh*
I’m just finishing up loose ends on my work right now but February will probably be a start of a new career for me. I really hope 2016 will be a good year to both of us.

😀 New career! I am so excited for you. I hope it works out (no pun intended). Nothing is as mind numbing as staying in a job you no longer has passion for.

I don’t have a bookshelf but a book cabinet too! Mine is a glass cabinet tho so it’s not sunlight proof but at least it’s dust proof XD AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR XD

I’m thinking of getting a glass cabinet too just so I can still see them beautifully stacked. Hmm maybe we can just position it on a place that gets the least sunlight.
You too, Kiamsiang! I hope 2016 will be your year 😀

This is such a great post, and I love all of your resolutions! I really hope you’ll invest more on travelling, and who knows, maybe you’ll be able to come to France because there’s like an exceptionnal plane deal or something, coming soon, haha!! 😀
Thank you so much for tagging me to do this! An early Merry Christmas and a very happy new year Trisha!! 😀

France is really on your bucketlist. Plane deals here are usually on flights going to different countries of Asia, Australia, and Guam. I’m hoping they cover Europe too! One day, I’ll surprise you on your doorstep, Marie! LOL.
I hope you had the best holiday break this year, Marie! Cheers to a bountiful 2016! 😀

Thank you so much, I did…it goes by too fastly, though 😦 And yes, Cheers to an incredible 2016!! 😀

I am also on an unofficial holiday hiatus due to Christmas season hijinks. I hope you have loads of fun with family and friends 🙂
I want to travel more as well, but working and only getting a month off a year makes it hard – I am planning to visit India in 2016 though, here comes all of my ‘themed’ readings again!!
I wish you all the best of luck on your NY resolution!

Despite the pile of workloads, I did spend a good time with my family and friends over the holidays 😉
Wooow! OMG Taj Mahal!! India sounds like a great place to visit. I’m excited for your India-themed readings as I don’t know much about Indian literature except the folk ones. 🙂

This is a fun tag! I will do this sometime soon, as it’s perfect for this season!
Are you going to quit your job soon as Career #2 answer suggests? I agree that focusing on career and not paycheck may make you happier and more fulfilled. I will be praying for you, my friend. 🙂 I wish you the best 2016 ever! Merry Christmas!!

Thanks E. Rawls! I’m excited to see your resolution list!
I just tendered my resignation letter last week. Time for a swerve in career path! There’s one that opened up and hopefully, I don’t screw up on the interview.
Did you have a great holiday celebration?
You’re one of the great friends I made in 2015. I wish you likewise for 2016. Cheers! 😀

I wish I could’ve done this tag, but because of what happened over the holidays I didn’t get any posts done. It was a sad Christmas. But I’m better now, and have so many things to catch up on.
How is your career path going? Did you find a new job?
You’re one of my great friends I met in 2015, and I’m so thankful to know you!

Thank you for the tag! ❤ Those are some awesome resolutions. :') I have to do the junk food thing too. (Junk the junk food. Hello, "yummy" nutritional food.) Also I think your reviews are freaking fantastic already 😀 But it never hurts to make them better. Also best of luck going to graduate school! I know you got this!!

Ah yes, New Years resolutions. Aren’t they fabulous? But indeed, let’s jump in to 2016 with positivity and achievable goals! WE CAN DO IT! And I hope you conquer J.R.R Tolkien! I adore his novels. Thank you for tagging me, I can’t wait to share my own resolutions.

That’s motivating! Thanks, Josie! LOTR intimidates me big time but I will still try! I’m looking forward to your set of New Year’s resolutions.

Omg Trisha, I hope you enjoy your little hiatus. We all need a break sometimes! I hope you get to do all the travelling you want in 2016 and good luck with junking the junk food (I could never do that!).
Thanks for creating this tag! I don’t normally make resolutions because I don’t like the pressure of having to keep them or feeling back when I don’t. But I’ll definitely be doing this one maybe at the beginning of 2016, just to reflect and give myself a bit of a to-do list!

I half-enjoyed my brief hiatus bc I get to spend time with my family over the holidays. The other half was spent playing martyrdom in my company. LOL
I understand where you’re getting from about quitting junk foods. Australian Tim Tams are irresistible!
Don’t feel pressured about doing the tag though. I know New Year’s resolution doesn’t work for all people so it’s okay. Happy 2016! 🙂

Haha I guess I have some loose goals that I want to achieve. I just like never do anything that I ‘promise’ or ‘resolve’ to do. But I can still set some goals I guess 😀
